| HI! My name is Kim Korstad. I am 37 years old and making a dream come true. After raising my daughter as a single parent for 18 years, I decided it was time to do something for myself. When I was a kid I wanted to drive a race car but never did anything about it so I decided to make that dream happen. I bought my race car turn-key as a pure stock in the fall of 2006 and began my Rookie year April 2007 racing in the Street Stock division Saturday nights at Cedar Lake Speedway and in June I started racing Sunday nights at Kasson Speedway. I was the crew and driver! Thanks to a few fellow drivers and mechanics giving me tips and encouragement I got more comfortable each race in the car and on the track. Special Thanks go to my Rookie year Sponsors: Shafer Signs, Somerset Auto Sales, and AUSA (Association of the United States Army) General Vessey Chapter! Thanks to my following my dream of driving a race car during the winter I also met my boyfriend, Rick Matuska. Rick had seen me racing in 2007 and contacted me offering help. We clicked instantly and have so much in common thats it's unbelievable and doing our 2008 season together has made it that much more exciting. I follow one dream of racing and also find the love of my life. How much better can it be? I have really grown in skill this season while traveling to several tracks trying to get all the seat time I can and have fun racing and learning more everyday. About half way into the season we got my bigger motor for the car and the power was great! In August I made a decision as a car owner to have an experienced driver race my car for a few nights to help us get the right set up. With me still learning I didn't know a lot about how to explain what the car needed and Shaun Kelley was a great help!
